Seven months old

Carter is seven months old today. Status check: He laughs and smiles pretty much nonstop. He's back to sleeping through the night. He eats everything we feed him, except for that one time we gave him boiled minced chicken. His favorite things are the cats. He poops twice a day. He has three naps a day. He pants when he gets excited. He splashes the water in his daily bath. He hates sunlight. He tries to chew on power cords. He stares at the TV. He drinks water from a cup.

We don't have much experience with this, but we suspect he's the happiest baby in the world.

Carter is oh-so-cool in his plaid pants.

Sleeping through the night

Carter slept through the night for six nights straight. But last night he broke his winning streak with a 4:30 a.m. demand for a bottle. Oh well....Sometimes I demand a bottle too at 4:30 a.m. A bottle of what, I won't say.

Crawling in the kitchen

I've tried to contain Carter's crawling just to his foam alphabet mat. He's not having any of that. He wants full run of the apartment. Finally I broke down last night and let him crawl around the kitchen. To say he was excited is an understatement. Watch the video to see what happened:

An hour at the zoo

Today we set off for the Happy Hollow Zoo. It's a tiny zoo designed for toddlers. On the second Tuesday of each month admission is only $1. So off we went.

Carter was fully sunblocked. He still doesn't like the sun in his eyes.

Most of the animals were gone or taken off display. At least there are guinea pigs!


Carter got a little overwhelmed at one point. That's when we decided to leave. The zoo had about nine exhibits and I only saw a tortoise and the guinea pigs. The rest were empty. Sad.


So we went home and had sweet potatoes and prunes. That was more fun!

Almost crawling

Carter is SO CLOSE to crawling. He kind of slithers around right now. He's certainly good at it. Check out this video.

Sitting up

Carter can sit up now for a few minutes on his own here and there. If he moves too much he topples to one side. He's starting to realize this, so now he sits still so he won't lose his balance.
