Playdate with JP, Jet and Traijen

Three boys visited this past weekend, and Carter wasn't sure what to make of it all. He never spends time with kids his age except for when we see Grant and Ava in Arizona. He eventually got over his bewilderment and had some fun.

Good look at Carter's giant feet:

Carter is very pleased with himself on the swing:

Carter's Cozy Coupe

I bought Carter a Little Tykes Cozy Coupe on Craigslist for $10. And he became the biggest brat almost immediately. He threw a tantrum in the car bringing it home because he couldn't touch it. The CC sat in the passenger's seat and he was in the back, choking in his carseat, gasping for air, tears streaming down his face. When we got home, he sat in the Coupe for two hours, and every time I came near him he would yell "Noway! Noway!"

This morning, the car was the first thing Carter wanted to see when he woke up. Here are some pictures and video:

Carter and Ava like each other

What's so funny?

The orange car

Pam and Kerri gave Carter this orange car when he was born, and it has been the most enduring toy. We've lost it at restaurants, only to go back and see it sitting in the window, waiting for its owner. It fell on the airplane floor during a flight, and I found it all the way at the front of the plane after landing. It's been all over the car and the house, and yet it always manages to pop back up again. Carter chewed on it as a baby, played with the wheels when he was older and now likes to push it around. It's the simplest toy, but it has been one of his favorites.

Bathtime + bubbles = crazy babies

The new house

Well, there are about five boxes left to unpack, but we're settling in pretty nicely. Here are some pictures from the first day, before the furniture arrived.

The yard has a filled-in swimming pool. I'm going to put sod on this so Carter has a lawn to run around on.

We moved!

Sorry for not blogging. We moved this past week and there are boxes everywhere. It's hard to find time to take pictures of Carter or post them.

I'll get back on schedule sometime next week.

Planes, Trains and Automobiles

We've seen what Carter does with a train set. Whenever an airplane flies above he gets really excited, points repeatedly and whines at us until we acknowledge it. Moving on to another mode of transportation: the automobile. Carter has several little cars and trucks now, which keep him occupied at restaurants and allows for a second glass of wine for his grateful parents.

Thomas the Train -- and so it begins

John has fond memories of building a toy train set with his dad, and he had planned to get a set for Carter at some point. I thought it would happen in a couple of years, but we took Carter to Toys R Us one day and he would not leave the Thomas the Train area. We eventually had to pick him up and carry him away, and you can imagine how well that went over.

Anyway, the incident inspired John to get the train set up and running, and Carter loves it. I actually am not sure who loves it more, since new pieces mysteriously appear all the time. John won't tell me how much he has spent on this already. But the money seems to be worth it since Carter spends a lot of time pushing trains around the track. I posted a video below.

It's shocking how elaborate these Thomas sets can get. Check in with us in a couple of years to see for yourself.
