The harmonica man returns!

This time, with screaming:

At the Santa Cruz beer bar

Rachel, Carter and I got a private room at a beer bar in Santa Cruz. I call it a beer bar because it was kind of like a wine bar, but it served lots of different beers. We had a little room with a sofa and chairs and Carter had a little space to play in. He was in a good picture taking mood. I couldn't delete any of these from my camera.

On the carousel

A surprisingly sedate Carter on the carousel at the kiddie zoo:

Happy birthday, Carter

Carter turns 14 months old today. We took him to the zoo last weekend to celebrate. We even let him hang out with the goats in the petting zoo area with the big kids. Carter zeroed in on the one goat that didn't really want to be bothered. Eventually the old goat got up and lumbered away.

This is dinner entertainment

This is what it's like to eat with Carter. It's so much worse at a restaurant, where he's doing everything he can to get everyone's attention. That includes screaming, pointing, staring, yelling "DA DA DAH!," throwing food and silverware and turning around in his seat to smile at the customers. We're now doomed to going to chain restaurants where that kind of behavior is tolerated. Hello, Sizzler....

Dinner time

Berries and pizza. Carter's in heaven!

It only got worse...

Playing the harmonica

Carter learned how to play the harmonica yesterday. And then he tried to eat it! Combined with the dancing, he's on his way to becoming quite the entertainer.

New shoes

Up to now, Carter has only worn Robeez baby shoes. But because the shoes are soft-soled, he's had a hard time walking on the gravel and wood chips found in many playgrounds. So I decided to buy him some big kid shoes. The problem is that he won't walk in them!

This is right after we put the size 7 shoes on. You can see his Robeez shoes in the background:

First attempt to stand up.

He'll walk if he holds on to something.

Nope, back to crawling.

Lunch with Rachel

Carter and I went to have lunch with Rachel on Friday. Later, we walked around on the campus. I'll have some fun videos up later.

Tantrum time

Carter threw his first real kicking-and-screaming on the floor tantrum today. I just walked away and he calmed down after about 15 seconds. It seems a little early for this kind of behavior. Too bad I didn't get pictures of him in action. Here he is in happier times...

Playing at the mall

We took Carter to the children's play area at the mall today. Since the mall is literally two blocks from our apartment, the play area is becoming a second home. Here are some pictures:

Two shirt pictures

I love this "Freaky" shirt from Aunt Rachel:

Carter never gets to hang out without a shirt on. So when he managed to break free during his morning clothes change, he enjoyed it.

Michael's birthday party

We went to the garlicky town of Gilroy yesterday to celebrate Michael's first birthday. He's a kid in the mommie's group we belong to. Carter had lots of fun...

He loves helium balloons.

And spent quality time with a shape puzzle set.

Michael has lots of toys.

Carter went around giving lots of things to people. Here he is giving away my camera case.

He climbed up on strangers who were holding balloons. He can't resist!
