More Tahoe fun

A few more pictures from Tahoe.

Carter kept trying to touch the hot gas stove. We had to put a border around it when it was on.

He suddenly likes wearing my sunglasses. He used to hate it but now I think he's figured out he gets lots of attention when he puts them on.

So after the bad experience with the toboggan we went to Raley's and bought an infant-only sled for $20. Here's a video of him being pulled around while crying. It's pretty funny. Obviously this one wasn't going to work so we ended up taking the sled back. Maybe we'll try again next year!

A birthday in the snow

Carter turned 13 months old this past weekend. We celebrated it while in Tahoe. We rented a great house and had ambitious plans to go sledding with Carter while his aunts and uncles went skiing at Heavenly and Kirkwood.

Let's just say that Carter is a bit too young for snow play. He was so bundled up that he couldn't walk on his own, and when he fell from the sled he went headfirst into the ground, unable to move until someone picked him up. That didn't go over well. I have some movies documenting his first exposure to the snow.

Here he is in his fabulous $3.99-on-eBay baby snowsuit. Doesn't he look like he's in his "Blue Steel" pose?

Out in the snow with Dad.

Here's Carter on the toboggan from Aunt Theresa. He's actually smiling here.

And here he is taking a tumble into the snow. I forgot to turn the camera off when I went to help him.

More coffee table shuffle

We just took this one a few minutes ago. It's more representative of the typical CTS. Did I mention I got my camera in the mail yesterday?

The coffee table shuffle

Here it is, the long-awaited video of Carter's new dance moves. He loves to climb up on the coffee table, and he cracks up when I sprint across the room in a panic. You can see me in the video ready to catch him when he falls. I've caught him plenty of times.

Carter: a one year update

We took Carter to get his 12-month checkup and shots the other day. He has actually lost weight since the end of December and now is as 21 pounds, 2 ounces. That's only in the 25th percentile. If he hadn't have been sick for two weeks there I'm betting he would have continued to be in the 50th percentile range. Time to fatten him up!

He's 31 inches tall, which is in the 75th percentile. And Carter still has a giant, giant noggin, with a head measuring 49.7 cm and in the 95th percentile.

He got his first measles and chicken pox vaccinations. Too bad he'll never experience the pain and all-consuming irritation of the chicken pox. I think it toughened me up a little when I was a kid.

Here are some more stats about the little guy:

Favorite food: Blueberries. He eats these so fast it's amazing he doesn't choke.
Least favorite food: Tuna fish! Immediately spat out.
Favorite activity: Chasing cats around and pulling tails.
Favorite TV show: Blue's Clues
Funniest trick: Climbing on to the coffee table and doing a weird stomping dance, which we call the Coffee Table Shuffle. (video of that coming soon)
Favorite Song: "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands"
Spoken words: None yet. But he does do a Neo-from-The-Matrix "bring it on" move with his hand when he wants something.
Recent achievements:
Graduating from baby bathtub to full-on grownup bathtub.
Putting an invisible phone to his ear when he hears anyone say "hello."
Correctly pointing out his mommy and daddy in their wedding photo.
Jumping on the couch.
Standing on the floor and spinning around and around and around...

Something to keep you busy

I've heard from you. Carter fans cannot survive this dry spell! Fear not, the camera should arrive on Wednesday. And we're going to Tahoe this weekend so I'll have lots of fun videos and pictures documenting Carter's first run-in with the cold white stuff.

Here's something to help pass the time. It's not too interesting, but it'll have to do. It's a short video of Carter and his spoon and his early attempts to climb on to the sofa. He's a pro at that now.

Tragedy has struck

I lost my camera somewhere in Arizona. Boo!

So I won't be posting any pictures for a while.

Luckily a new camera is on the way!

Happy new year!

Carter has been sick since Christmas day, when he started having a croupy cough. Since then he has vomited, had a low-grade fever, acted listless during the day, cried at night, lost his appetite and has been all kinds of cranky. He's much better, but still has some discomfort here and there. He woke up exactly at midnight on New Year's Eve crying, and proceeded to vomit white chunks of milk curd all over me. But he felt immediately better and was laughing and playing like nothing had happened.

Here he is right after the incident:

Remember this from New Year's Eve 2006?

Happy new year, everyone.
