First day of kindergarten

The big day is finally here! Kindergarten!!!

Carter was totally excited. No more naps, no more daycare. He's a big boy now!

He's going to a year-round school, so it starts in July. He goes from 11-4, so he gets to sleep in until 9:30 and lounge around watching TV until 10:30. In other words, he's in heaven.

Here he is on the playground with a boy in a mohawk. Yes, a mohawk. OK, he's just a 5-year-old, but come on...

We were waiting around for about 10 minutes for class to start.

Lining up to enter the class.....

And he's off! Bye, Carter!

Party Rock

Carter's favorite song is Party Rock Anthem. He'll be playing by himself or out with us somewhere and will suddenly bust out with, "Every day I'm shufflin'." It's super funny. I asked him to dance to it today, and here's what he did before my camera ran out of space:

Graduation!

Carter graduated from pre-K Saturday. His school has a very sweet event where the kids dress in caps and gowns and say goodbye. It's not really goodbye -- most of them will come back next week -- but one by one, they'll leave for kindergarten. Carter is the first to go, since his school starts July 19.

The teachers played a sappy video showing photos of each kid over the years. By the end every mom in the room was crying.

Here's Carter and his friend Michael. Carter's best friend Mitchell did not attend.

Carter clowning around as usual.

We asked the kids to pose together and of course Carter was fooling around and hamming it up the whole time. All the teachers looked at each other and said, "That's Carter!" I guess word is out: He's a goofball.
