Rockstar of the week

Carter is "rockstar of the week" at school, which means he gets to take home the class teddy bear, named Snowflake, and take some pictures. Each day of the week, the class celebrates Carter in some way. He brought in a Lego toy for show and tell today, and yesterday he showed off a poster board we made at home that was all about him.

He shoots, and scores!

Carter is in his third season of soccer now, and he finally scored a goal! His teammate Ryan sent an excellent pass right to Carter, setting up a showdown between Carter and the other team's goalie. Bam! The goalie didn't stand a chance.

Carter was absolutely thrilled, and it gave him a huge burst of confidence. He also got the team medal that day for getting his first goal.

Now he really wants to score another one.

Second-grade love

There's a girl in class who really likes Carter. Jade's face brightens whenever he comes into the room and she always tries to talk to him. He doesn't pay her much attention.

Yesterday, I picked him up from school and the first thing he said was that it was a terrible day. He then told me the story on the car ride home.

Jade told Anthony to tell Carter that she loved him. Carter decided to confront her about it and told her, "Love someone else." Then Jade responded by saying, "You broke my heart."

For the rest of the afternoon, Jade sent Carter notes in class. They all said the same thing: "You broke my heart."

Carter was miserable. He said his stomach hurt all afternoon and he couldn't breathe.

He told me he wouldn't love any girl until he was in high school or college. Until then, he said, "the only girl I love is Mom."

Can you stay this way forever, Carter?

Golfing

We took Carter to Top Golf and he tried to hit some balls. He was pretty awful at first but got the hang of it eventually. Then he lost interest altogether after about 30 minutes.

Christmas 2014

Carter decorated the tree and it looks awesome.

We also went on the Polar Express train ride. Carter took off his shoes on the ride, of course. Then Santa walked through and said, "You're the first kid on this train I've seen with no shoes." But Carter thought he said, "You're the first kid on this train I've seen with issues." Carter did not like Santa for a while there.

Finally, Christmas Day. Carter got a new Chromebook laptop from Santa and a few video games and books from his parents. He gave his dad a Simpsons cup and his mom a garlic chopper. Merry Christmas!
