School arrives so quickly! Carter started fourth grade today.
He either doesn't like getting this picture taken or doesn't like starting school. Not sure which.

Losing
We still laugh about the first time we played Candyland with Carter when he was 2. He was really excited about the game and played all the way through -- until he lost the game. Then he overturned the board and screamed "Die, Mommy and Daddy!" before collapsing on to the floor and sobbing.
Poor baby!
We have never intentionally lost a board game to let him win. We play fair and, to be honest, most of the time Carter loses on family game night. But he is over that trauma now, and when he loses he is just fine now.
But when he wins, he will rub it in our faces!

Hitting golf balls
We stayed home for spring break and tried to do some fun stuff around town before the weather gets too hot. Here's Carter hitting golf balls at Top Golf:

New kitten
We have a new kitten, born January 14, 2016. Carter has named him Corey.
John said it best on his Facebook account:
Hard to believe we've had this little guy for only a week, he's become such a big part of the family. As hoped, the kitten --given the godawful cat name of "Corey" by Carter-- completely gets along with Zooey the Bugg dog.
They sleep together, play together, and it seems to be starting to have an effect on Zooey-- yesterday she saw Ash and instead of instinctively chasing her... just sorta looked at her. Ash is okay with the kitten enough to eat next him, and get near him without hissing TOO often. Ruby remains a chicken shit. An enormous ten pound cat who runs in fear of a 1 pound kitten. Not sure Ruby will ever come around.
Corey is chatty and friendly and, unlike the other cats, hangs out with us downstairs. He's a relentless mooch though, and goes CRAZY whenever there is ANY sort of food nearby, even, like, vegetables. We have to lock the kitten in the guest room when we eat, and from its cries you'd think we were committing bloody murder.
Anyway, things are going well. Fun to have a kitten around the house again.
Here's a picture of Corey and Zooey:
