Wake up, Carter!

Typical Carter in the morning, passed out when he should be up starting the day.

He's such a night owl now, staying awake until 10 p.m. or later. Then he sleeps in as much as he can.

Things I've done to wake him: Blasted music in his room, splashed water on him, pelted him with stuffed animals, yelled at him repeatedly. He doesn't want to wake up.

Everyone suggests waking him up very early, and then he will want to sleep early. But what's the point? His kindergarten day doesn't start until 11 a.m., and there's no real point in waking him up at 7 a.m. so he can sit around while we both have to work. I think the best bet is to let him stay up later and sleep in so we can get work done.

Camping

We went camping this weekend and had a really nice time. This was camping for wimps -- our campground had a hot tub, swimming pool, playground and a convenience store. But I thought it would be a good introduction to camping for Carter. He loved it. What's not to love about camping when you're a kid? Sleeping in the tent with Mom and Dad, roasting marshmallows, looking at the stars, and staying up super super super late...
Our campsite was right by a stream, and the kids went wading during the day. Carter made fast friends with the boys that stayed next door.
